Excellent book for the piano repertoire!

Master piece music book! The arrangements were made by Joe Hisaishi himself.
If you really want to perform this songs as they were written, you will have to study them as
seriously as if you were studying Bach, Mozart, Beethoven or any other serious composer.
The quality of the paper is great, although, the book is paperback.

Best Ghibli Piano Book

This book contains, by far, my favorite arrangements of pieces from Studio Ghibli films. The arrangements, written by Joe Hisaishi himeself, are rich and well written for the piano. The scores are beautiful and the binding is very nice. Many of the most popular pieces are included. If you're looking for Ghibli piano arrangements, this is the book.

Fifth-century Athenian musical and political theorist Damon was the first to study music's psychological, behavioural, and political effects, profoundly influencing debates on music theory throughout antiquity. Considered by Isokrates to be the most intelligent Athenian of his age, Damon worked alongside Perikles during the most vibrant decades of Athens' democracy. Probably using fourth-century BC sources, Olympiodoros records that 'Damon taught Perikles the songs through which Perikles harmonized the city'. However, musical and political entanglements caused this teacher-theorist to be ostracized from Athens for ten years, at the height of Perikles' power.

Reconstructing Damon is the first comprehensive study of the most important theorist of music and poetic meter in ancient Athens, detailing his extensive influence, and providing the first systematic collection, translation, and critical examination of all ancient testimonia for him. In doing so, this volume makes an important contribution to a number of key fields, including classical Greek music and music theory, fifth-century philosophy (particularly the sophists), political history including the growth of democracy, and the life and career of Perikles.

Robert W. Wallace is Professor of Classics at Northwestern University. A graduate of Columbia, Oxford, and Harvard, he has written or edited seven books and some 85 articles in the fields of Greek history, literature, law, music theory, and coinage. He has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Siena, Pisa, Urbino, Trento, Halle, and the American School of Classical Studies, Athens. He has lectured widely in Europe and North America.

For beginners? Not for beginners?

It's pretty hard to find any instructional material on gouache, of any quality or style, so I was excited to see a modern book by a non-cartoony painter on the medium. Unfortunately, the book seems a bit conflicted with itself about who exactly the audience is.

The book devotes rather a lot of space to completely fundamental basics: what is still life, what is gouache, the inevitable list of supplies and equipment, how to stretch watercolor paper. A huge amount of space is devoted to subject matter and composition, including a remarkably brief account of perspective. A little is spent on using a grid to transfer a drawing, a bit on color, and then we're off.

After that, a series of subjects are tackled. These are far beyond the elementary material given in the first few sections, with only a few in-progress images to guide you along the way. For example, the painting on the cover has a total of four images: the pencil sketch, two in-progress, one done. The book would have benefited from one or two middle chapters that took things slower with much more pictorial documentation about what was going on in terms of gouache consistency, color mixing, even basics like brushwork. A bit of this happens in the "Color and Techniques" chapter, but it moves very quickly, and some of the in-progress photos were photographed in inconsistent lighting, which hardly makes it easier to see what's going on.

There is plenty of text in the book, and much excellent advice is given there, but it still sometimes seems like the first part of the book was written for one audience (utter beginners), and the second for an intermediate to advanced audience already familiar with painting, but new to gouache. Rudy de Reyna's long out of print "Painting in Opaque Watercolor" remains the better book for beginners.

Very basic info, well presented

As an experienced painter I found the book covered things I already know and use. A beginning painter would learn a great deal from reading this book. I wanted an all around tutorial on gouache techniques and this does give some, but it is more of a basic painting lesson. $20.00 was a lot to spend on information I already had.

If you are an advanced painter, skip this one. If you are a beginner, buy this and read it; the information will apply to any painting method and you'll have a good foundation to build your own work on. It is well written and organized.

Great Volume of Questions, but many Superfluous ones

This book is good because of the sheer number of questions it offers however these questions are not very representative of what appears on the in-service for residents. PEER Review is definitely better. There are also many questions that I believe are more opinion based on practice style than actually grounded in facts. Also there are many questions that go beyond the scope of EM and seem to be included just so they can reach their 1200 number.

Took and passed the ER Boards three times so far- this was a disapointment.

Many questions here but only a few that are bread and butter Emergency Medicine. Many seem to be preparing us for the Internal Medicine Boards since there are numerous questions that seem to be related to issues and treatments that will not be diagnosed,started, or even treated in the Emergency Department. When question pertinent to EM are presented, they are mixed with minutia details that reflect the bias toward the Internal Medicine Boards. The field of Emergency Medicine is comprehensive enough that the additions of minute and confusing ( often conflicting) answers does little to the preparation for the ER Boards. Straightforward questions about straightforward conditions that are seen in every Emergency Department would be difficult enough and should be the focus of such a preparation book. It seems at times, this book goes out of its way to be as cryptic or deceptive as possible.

This part concludes with a chapter describing the coupling of macro- and microscopic phenomena in microstructure development.

Defects, the third and final section describes various types of defects that may occur ― with emphasis on porosity, hot tearing, and macrosegregation ― presented using the modeling tools and microstructure descriptions developed earlier in the text.

About the Author
Tara Sivec is a USA Today best-selling author, wife, mother, chauffeur, maid, short-order cook, baby-sitter, and sarcasm expert. She lives in Ohio with her husband and two children and looks forward to the day when all three of them become adults and move out.

After working in the brokerage business for fourteen years, Tara decided to pick up a pen and write instead of shoving it in her eye out of boredom. She is the author of 24 books ranging from Romantic Comedy and Romantic Suspense to Psychological Thriller and Erotic Romance. A winner for Tara Sivec.

"I have to keep going. If I’m caught, I’ll be dead."

This suspenseful thriller will have you asking questions until the very end. A different venture for Tara, Bury Me was a carefully crafted story with multiple layers, driven by a girl and the prison she calls home.

"Nothing is falling into place and everything feels wrong."

Prepare yourself for a couch date. With the twisting plot lines Tara throws at you there will be no time to "pick it back up tomorrow." Tara has dipped her writing hand into romantic suspense but Bury Me takes her to a completely different level. Leave the penis jokes at the home please because Tara has checked another box off her "can do list" and Bury Me will yet again show her in a whole new light.

Psychological Thriller at its best! I was completely mindblown!

So I did something I don't normally do....I read other people's reviews before writing my own. I needed to make sure that what I was thinking and feeling after finishing this book was even remotely close to others. Needless to say, the resounding words from everyone, including me are:

WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING F#$%@# DID I JUST READ AND WHOSE DEMENTED TWISTED MIND DID THIS COME FROM?!?!?!?

Anyone that has ever read Tara Sivec has come to expect humor. Like rolling on the floor, pee in your pants ridiculous humor. Then, she stunned us all with the most heartfelt of stories including "Watch Over Me." Now, Tara has gone where I never saw coming, the true psychological thriller, the mindf#$% of a rollercoaster, edge of your seat crazy.

"Bury Me" is dark. Black hole dark. The characters are eerie and scary. I read this book beginning to end in a matter of hours because I couldn't put it down. I had no idea where the story was leading. I knew that the parents scared me, stories didn't match up and Ravenna Duskin is a very strange girl. Even as I got to the end and the truth was revealed, I still was completed screwed again when I read the epilogue. "Bury Me" is definitely being added to my list of favorites for a genre I never even knew I loved until recently.

If you have ever had the chance to meet Tara Sivec in person, you've met a legend. Just like the characters in all of her books, she is the funniest, craziest, sweetest most completely batsh#$@#$ crazy person I have ever met. "Bury Me" is that demented side of her, the one we all knew had to be there but she just hadn't discovered it yet. I am seriously glad she did and can't wait to see what personality she reveals next!

Most comprehensive book on cellular structures

I'm a masters student working on cellular plastics and I refer to this book almost daily. It compiles all of the most relevant theories and physical models for many different types of cellular structures. This book is a must-have for any laboratory or student working on cellular materials.
